A private residence and conference centre is built in the Arklay Mountains, outside Raccoon City. Its architect designed every corridor to the founder's own drawings.
Umbrella Corporation is founded
Lord Oswell E. Spencer, Dr. Edward Ashford and Dr. James Marcus found Umbrella with a mandate to study life at its most fundamental level.
The Umbrella Training Facility opens
A residential centre for the next generation of Umbrella scientists, directed by Dr. James Marcus.
Rockfort Island research centre
The Ashford family opens a private research centre on Rockfort Island, in the South Atlantic.
Dr. James Marcus retires
After twenty years of service, our co-founder steps down from the board.
A new underground laboratory in Raccoon City
Our largest research complex opens beneath the city, codenamed The Hive and managed by an automated control system.
Arklay Laboratory reports a minor incident
A laboratory in the Arklay Mountains reports a T-virus leak. Staff are evacuated as a precaution.
Arklay facility closed for scheduled maintenance
The Spencer Estate and its laboratory close until further notice. The facility is no longer accessible to the public.
